MAY
MONTHLY MARKETING COMMENT
I
expect Waihi Beach will become a bit of a sleepy hollow over the
next few months as the economy limps along from one politician to
another telling us how they would do things.
I also expect the housing market in holiday towns such as
Waihi Beach will suffer not from drops in real estate prices but
more from the lack of confidence and urgency placed on buyers.
As
we approach the spring there will again be the usual hype and the
urgency will return but over the next few months the market will be
very lacklustre. This
is not a lot of consolation for vendors who are becoming very very
keen to sell their properties and there are an increasing number of
them!! It is however, a
very good opportunity for those that are in a position to make their
move and purchase. For
many of our rural neighbours the winter is a quiet period before
calving and spring activity so I expect we will see some activity
from them shortly.
The
Beach Hop at Whangamata has once again come and gone and what a
fantastic event it was – it just keeps getting better every year!
I believe this single event is bigger than New Year for the
town and my only hope is that the committee can continue to put on
such a fantastic event with the limited funding they receive.
Back
here at Waihi Beach thoughts are already on people’s minds about
next summer’s Mardi Gras with the “Op Shop Mid Winter Ball”
being the event to attend on June 28th. Tickets are only
$20 (available at Waihi Beach Hammer Hardware) and proceeds go
towards the running costs of the Mardi Gras. So put that date on
your calendar and we’ll see you there! There’s a great band
booked and I’m sure there will be some spectacular outfits on
display.
